Wondering what you get in our latest pattern offering?

Sizing: It covers sizes 1-10 (18 months to 10 years).

There are 3 lengths:
Top – below the hip bone. Long enough for shorts to peep out underneath.
Beach – mid thigh. Long enough to over your swimwear but short enough to play.
Dress – above the knee. The perfect easy summer dress length.

There are 4 drawstring options as well:
Placement - either high or at the waist.
Elastic or Drawstring.

Degree of difficulty & skill?
There are super super easy options and one or two harder options for those of you that like a challenge. The final neckline option in the tutorial, the Wide Neck V, is the hardest. That said, I take you through, step by step. As one of the testers said when she'd finished sewing this version "you just need to trust and keep sewing. I promise it will turn out."

And what about style options you ask?
There are 8 different necklines to choose from and a gazillion ways to get creative.

Simple Boat Neck (Top length):
This option is finished off with a narrow binding around the neckline. You will find all the measurements you need in the tutorial.

Keyhole Neck (Dress length):
The keyhole neck is narrower than a boat neck (above) but wider than a round neck. Like the boatneck, it's finished off with a narrow binding, this time tying at the front.

Hoody (Beach length) & Decorative Placket (Top length):
The hoodie version is a winner for the beach and is just plain cute. But my favourite of all is the little one on the right, the decorative placket. I show you a really simple way to achieve a gorgeous detail on the outside of your Kaftan. Both options tie at the front.

Hidden Placket (Top length):
The hidden placket option is simple to achieve. It also ties at the front.

T-shirt Neck (made from kids towel):
The t-shirt neck kaftan is the perfect option to choose if you're in a hurry. Below I have combined the t-shirt neck option with the hoodie option. Use a knit for the hood for this version.

Narrow V-Neck (Dress length):
Another gorgeously simply kaftan to achieve. The narrow v-neck is finished off with a narrow binding. Simple & straightforward.

Wide V-Neck (Dress length):
The wide v-neck is probably the hardest option but, that said, it's totally doable with some patience & practice and achieves such a nice finish.

And what about finishes?
You can have a straight hem or a curved hem.
You can have a double turned hem or narrow rolled edge.
You can trim or even bind your edges.
Oh and you can add contrast panels too.
So, if you're a little bit maths nerdy like me & add them all up, that’s over 100 different combinations.

So, happy sewing. I can't wait to see you on the beaches this summer.
Kate xx
