The Baby Playtime Pinny & Playtime Pants - our latest pattern releases.

I thought i'd give a quick rundown on what's inside the Baby Playtime Pinny & the Baby Playtime Pants, our newest pattern releases.

THE PLAYTIME PINNY:

The Girls Patchwork Playtime Pinny pattern, released earlier this year, has been one of our most popular patterns. It's one of those patterns where people have felt inspired to add their own style to it. And given the number of options, that's easy to do.

One of the main questions when I released the girl's pinny was "are you releasing a baby version?" So I did!

SIZES:
The Baby version of the Playtime Pinny covers from a tiny newborn baby size 00000 up to a size 2. You will notice that there is a slight cross over in sizing between the two patterns (sizes 1 & 2).  For this reason, I have offered the Girls/Baby Playtime Bundle at a permanent special price.

FIT:
The Playtime Pinny has an elastic back, making fit an ease. The crossover straps button up or snap at the front. On the 'Size and Fit' page (page 3) there are notes on how to tailor your pinny to your child's size.

OPTIONS:
Lengths: The Baby Playtime Pinny has 3 lengths - Dress, Crawler & Top. The dress fits to around knee level, depending on your little ones height. The Crawler is tunic length and designed to be worn over the Playtime Pants (nappy cover) during the warmer months and the PE Harem Pants in the cooler months. The top is another great length to team with either the Playtime Pants or Harem Pants.

Pattern Hacks: As well as the main Pinny tutorial, also included in the pattern are instructions for the following. You choose which ones you'd like to add to your Playtime Pinny.
1) Ruffle Straps
2) Ruffle Back
3) Ruffle Hem
4) Ruffle Front
5) Ruffle Bib Front
6) Patchwork (there are several different combinations)
7) Panels
8) Applique

THE PLAYTIME PANTS:

Now I'm sure you've seen a thousand nappy cover patterns. So what's so different about mine? If you've ever sewn with a Pattern Emporium pattern before, you'll know it's all about fit, simplicity & options. My personal preference for clothing is quite simple with great fabrics & attention to detail. All the designer brands I adore have a similar philosophy (which is probably why i adore them).

One of the main things I heard from the testers was about the fit:

"The fit of the nappy cover is perfect I love it!"

"More accurate than other nappy covers I've used...."

"I love the nappy cover. I love that there's no bulky crotch seam and the elastic casing legs are so much better than turning and pressing or binding for elastic casings!!

FIT:
Disposable Nappy/Diaper: The Baby Playtime Pants has both a curved back & front to allow for the curves of the body and to fit over a disposable nappy.
Cloth Nappy/Diaper: During the testing phase a few ladies fit tested their PP's with MCN's (Modern Cloth Nappy) and found that it was best to go up a size for the best fit.
Adjusting Fit: In the tutorial there are, as usual, notes on adjusting the fit for your little ones body (See page 3 'Size & Fit'). We often discuss how not everyone fits the standard width/height ratios so it's good to know how to adjust to suit your bub.

SIZES: 00000-2

SIMPLICITY:
It's always bewildered me how you are supposed to neatly, evenly & without puckering, fold under a curve as steep as a leg opening. The maths nerd in me just doesn't compute that.
The Playtime Pants Nappy Cover has leg bands that are either cut on the bias or with stretch fabric (you get the option for both of these in the pattern) allowing better movement of your fabric both around the curve of the leg opening and the curve of gorgeous little baby thighs.

OPTIONS:
I am a woman who loves options. Give me all the options and let me decide based on what else I'm doing today. So of course the PP's have options. The basic nappy cover is the same for each option.

In the Main Tutorial:
1) Woven leg bands with elastic - I give you 2 ways to do this. The professional finish in the main tutorial and the super quick & easy way (in the 'Pattern Hack' section). In th
2) Stretch leg bands.

In the main section I also show you how to do the waist & the elastic all in one go.

In the Pattern Hack section:
3) As mentioned above, there's a faster way to complete the woven leg bands.
4) I outline the more traditional way to complete the waist.
5) I show you what to do if you are using directional fabric.

There are heaps of photos to inspire you throughout the tutorial.
